KAWS - Companion (Passing Through) // Philadelphia 30th St. Station

Today, one of Philadelphia's most beautiful buildings, 30th St. Station, had a new visitor among the hustle and bustle of daily commutes.

Perched at the west end of the interior is a 16-foot tall sculpture with its head hanging in its hands. With X's on it's eyes, hands, and feet, the artist behind the massive fiberglass and metal installation should be well known to you.

Companion (Passing Through), the incredible work of the legendary KAWS now makes the Amtrak train station it's home. First seen in Hong Kong, New York, The Aldrich Museum in Ridgefield, CT, The High Museum, Atlanta, and The Modern, Fort Worth, Companion (Passing Through) will quietly sit at 30th St. Station until May 14th, 2013.

However, this morning saw much hubbub surrounding the installation as it received an official unveiling courtesy of the Pennsylvania Academy Of Fine Arts, the fine people who helped bring this important piece of artwork to our fair city of Philadelphia. Living Proof Magazine was on hand to document the festivities, which saw a large crowd gather to see the famed artist speak about the piece.

Check out the above video, which recaps the event.
