Rappers And Clothing Lines

Since the late 90's rappers have been making a splash in the fashion game. Rappers from Jay Z who catered to the hood to Pharrell who represented the skater types have introduced the world to their own lines. Many lines have flown high while others crashed before making it out the airport. Brands such as Sean John,Rocawear and BBC have made their mark in the fashion game and are here to stay eventhough some may not be as popular as they once were. We have also seen brands enter and exit quickly such as Gunit,Vokal, Todd Smith(llcool j), Shady(Eminem), Makeveli(dont think Pac approved this one). Some were bad timing, designing and business while others should have not happened at all. I think the mistake with many of them was the head of the companies really didnt care about fashion and were just around to make a quick dollar of the artist fame. Today the trend with rappers having their clothing lines has not stopped.Many rappers have realeased subpar line in the last few years while other have really went in the lab to make their venture worth while. Recently the line from Rap duo the clipse caught my attention. The Clipse just debut their Play Clothes Collection for Fall 09 and i can say that im impressed with what they are offering so far.
